About Us
A real Quran and Arabic academy — with an address you can visit
Musk Academy (دار مسك) teaches the Holy Quran and the Arabic language to people who do not speak Arabic at home. We are not a booking platform that connects you to a stranger. We are an academy in Nasr City, Cairo, with named teachers, published qualifications and public reviews.
We did not start online
Most online Quran academies were built as websites first. Ours was a classroom first, and the classroom is what shaped the teaching.
Our academy sits in a part of Cairo where a large number of non-Arab Muslim students live and study. For years they walked in through the door — from Uzbekistan, from Kazakhstan, from across Asia, Africa and Europe — and sat in front of our teachers in person.
That is not a marketing line, it is the reason our lessons work the way they do. Teaching someone who does not think in Arabic is a different job from teaching someone who does. Our teachers learned that face to face, over years, before a single lesson was ever delivered over Zoom.
Things you can check for yourself
Anyone can claim experience. These are the parts you can verify before you trust us with your child.
Our head office: 13 Mohamed Hassan Street, 10th District, Nasr City, Cairo 11528, Egypt.
Understand it, do not only pronounce it
A child can recite a page perfectly and understand none of it. We treat that as a failure, not a result.
Meaning travels with the recitation
Rules of Tajweed are taught as they are used, and the sense of what is being read is explained along the way, in a language the student follows.
Correction happens in the moment
One-to-one lessons mean a mistake is fixed the second it is made, rather than repeated for a month until it becomes a habit.
Our teachers, by name
In this field the teacher is the product. So we publish who they are and what they hold.
- Sheikh Abdelfattah Mostafa Haykal — teacher at Al-Azhar, holds the ten Qiraat, international recitation judge, member of the review committee for the Ummah Mushaf
- Dr. Maysara Yusuf Hajjo — PhD in the Qiraat; the Ten Minor, the Ten Major and the Four Zawaid
- Dr. Emad Sobhy — certified in the Ten Qiraat
- Sheikh Mohammed — Azhari, with Ijazah in Tajweed
- Mr. Khaled — Arabic for non-native speakers
Female teachers are available on request. Full profiles on our teachers page.
Who we teach
Children and adults. Complete beginners and students working towards Ijazah. Families in the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, France, Indonesia, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, and students who found us because a friend in their community recommended us.
What they have in common is that Arabic is not the language spoken at home. Everything we build — the pace, the explanations, the choice of teacher — starts from that fact.
