Questions

Frequently asked questions

The questions parents and students actually ask us before they start — answered plainly. If yours is not here, message us on WhatsApp and a person from the academy will answer.

Getting started

We speak no Arabic at all. Can we still start?
Yes. That is who the academy is built for. Most of our students do not speak Arabic at home, and many begin without recognising a single letter. The teacher starts from wherever you actually are.
Is the trial lesson really free?
Yes. One lesson of 30 minutes, including a level assessment, at no cost. We do not ask for card details and there is nothing to cancel afterwards.
How long is a lesson?
The standard lesson is 40 minutes. The free trial lesson is 30 minutes and includes a level assessment. Some students prefer a longer or shorter format, and we agree that with you when we build your plan.
Which course should we choose?
If you are unsure, choose Not sure — assess my level when you book. The teacher assesses the level during the trial and recommends the right starting point.

Lessons and teachers

How are the lessons delivered?
One-to-one over Zoom, at times arranged around your timezone rather than around Cairo. You are never placed into a shared class you did not ask for.
Do the teachers speak English?
Yes. Explanations, corrections and feedback are given in English, so a student who speaks no Arabic at all is never left guessing what the teacher wants. If English is essential for your child, say so when you book and we will confirm it in the trial lesson before you commit to anything.
Are your teachers qualified?
Our teachers are named on the site with what they hold — including a teacher at Al-Azhar who holds the ten Qiraat and sits on the review committee for the Ummah Mushaf, and a PhD holder in the Qiraat. You can read the list on our teachers page.
Are female teachers available for girls?
Yes, on request, for sisters and for girls. Please mention it when you book so the teacher is matched correctly from the first lesson.

Fees and commitment

Why are prices not published on the site?
Because the honest price depends on how often you study and for how long. After the free trial you receive a plan and a price in writing, and you decide then. Details on our pricing page.
How do we pay?
Fees are paid in advance for the period you agree with us. We confirm the amount and the method with you before anything begins.
What if we need to stop?
You can request a refund within 14 days. Lessons you have not taken stay valid for 12 months, or can be transferred to a family member. See our refund policy.

Families and changes

Can several of my children learn together?
Yes. Tell us when you book how many children and their ages, and we arrange them together so one schedule covers the family instead of three.
What if my child does not get on with the teacher?
Tell us and we change the teacher at no cost. We would rather find a better match than lose a student.
Can we change course later?
Yes. Students often begin with reading and move into Tajweed or Hifz once the letters are secure. Just tell your teacher.
